Moonachie, NJ; January 28, 2004 -- NUR Macroprinters (Website) (Nasdaq-SCM: NURM), a market leading supplier of wide-format inkjet production printing systems for the out-of-home advertising market, today announced its first U.S. commercial installation of the new NUR Tempo™ flatbed inkjet press at SourceOne Graphics of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Tempo Complements SourceOne's Screen and Specialty Lines
The NUR Tempo was installed at SourceOne in late December 2003. It operates as a complement to SourceOne's screen and specialty printing lines for inkjet production printing of a wide variety of jobs – including banners, murals, decals, posters, labels, fleet graphics, displays and point of purchase materials - on both rigid media and roll-fed, flexible substrates.
Says Kevin Wipson, Sales Manager of SourceOne Graphics, "Recognizing that the future of our industry is digital, we began looking for a flatbed inkjet press that would let us handle shorter runs more cost effectively than our screen presses, while enabling us to handle the increased demand for customization and go after new markets."
Wipson was first introduced to the benefit of the NUR Tempo demonstrated in April 2003 at the International Sign Association trade show in Las Vegas, NV. He attended the show looking for new products and services he could offer to both existing and new customers in order to grow the business. He chose the NUR Tempo from a field of competitive flatbed devices. In addition to its large flatbed format factor, the ability to produce photo-realistic quality using 8-color printing for the jobs that require it, weighed heavily in his purchase decision.
Flexibility to Handle Both Rigid and Roll Media Key
"We run a lot of rigid substrates for POP (point-of-purchase displays) work as well as roll-fed media for banners and vinyl fleet graphics. It did not make sense for us to buy two new digital machines – one to handle rigid materials and another for flexible media," continues Wipson. "The NUR Tempo offers us both capabilities in a single machine."
Wipson also expects the NUR Tempo will help make his company more competitive as he goes after new markets while maintaining or even increasing profitability.
"In today’s economy we’ve made our traditional operation as thin as possible," says Wipson.
